
Distinguished Achievement Award in Environmental Systems Engineering and Geo-Environmental Engineering
Mike Barish is an engineering manager for Somerset International. Since 2018, he has been key in expanding pre-agreement sampling and modeling to create desktop study packages and aid in economic evaluation and lease negotiations. Additionally, he is involved in post-agreement client plant optimization and Somerset optimization.
Starting in 2014, Barish had a three-year role as a senior project manager at Calgon Carbon Corporation (CCC), a global leader in activated carbon manufacturing. Barish oversaw various capital projects including the construction of a state-of-the-art carbon research facility at CCC world headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Previously, Barish was a project manager with Forge/Taggart, which followed his time at CONSOL Energy, where he held various roles, beginning as a plant operator at Bailey Central Preparation Plant in Greene County, Pennsylvania, and continuing through to process engineer.
Barish earned his bachelor of science in mining engineering (mineral processing) and geo-environmental engineering from Penn State.
